MALLO BROTHER'S RACING
JUSTIN AND CORY MALLO
JUSTIN MALLO
Justin Mallo lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming where the small track of Big Country speedway is, but this isn't were he started racing. Justin started racing ten years ago in Denver,Colorado where he raced quarter midgets. He was very successful there with over five local and regional championships, including one national championship in Sr. Honda in Tacoma, Washington.
After five years of racing quarter midgets he moved to a Micro sprint. In his first full season he ran forth in points and gained him rookie of the year. The next year the Mallo's moved from Ft. Lupton, Colorado to Cheyenne, taking a year off but ended up running a fun car, a Junkyard Warrior.
The next year, 2007, was the busiest, Justin ran a Super Stock (on the right), a Mini Sprint, and a Pure Stock. Justin was the youngest driver to run a Super and he ran second in the points, getting a main win and several heats and dashes.
In 2008 Justin ran a 250 micro sprint as well as a few races in a midget including his first Chili Bowl race.
The 2009 season will be an exciting one focusing on racing the midget. The Chili Bowl was his first race of 2009 (look at results). Justin will have a new paint scheme for the 2009 RMMRA racing season. Check out the photo gallery for progress and completion pictures.
CORY MALLO
Cory Mallo also lives in Cheynne, the home of Big Country Speedway. He followed his brother's footsteps in starting in quarter midgets, moving to Micro Sprints, Mini Sprints and now a Midget.
In 2007 Cory ran a junkyard warrior and came in 3rd in points. He had a good time running the car, but realized that open wheel is where he wanted to be. In 2007 Cory also ran a micro sprint the entire season at Big Country Speedway. He would finish the season 3rd in that as well.
2008 Cory opened his options to both a micro sprint and a 600 mini sprint. He won the season championship in his 250 Micro and placed 14th in the 600 mini sprint.
The 2009 season will be one in which he focuses mainly on his Midget. He is looking forward to getting to race at other tracks and excited for more competition.
